Willow Foundation Special Days and Treats Boxes

Updated: Nov 2, 2021

Update 19th October 2021:

For people living with a life-threatening illness, every day is precious. The pressures of diagnosis, treatment and recovery can have a devastating effect on work and family life. Willow aims to redress the balance: providing unique and unforgettable Special Days and Special Treats tailored to your needs. They make every effort to ensure a stress-free, seamless experience, not just meeting but exceeding your expectations.

We are pleased to announce that all of our members aged 16- 40 qualify for special days and treat boxes offered by the Willow Foundation.

What are the special days and treat boxes?

For some a Special Day is their last chance to fulfil a dream, for others, it provides the opportunity to simply return some normality back into their lives or mark the end of treatment and a new beginning. But for all, a Special Day creates treasured memories at the most difficult of times. Special Days are currently restricted to those in palliative care/non-curative or with degenerative conditions.

Special Treats are personalised gift boxes filled with luxury items with a different theme for each box, including pampering, food/drink, family fun and many other ways to give a positive boost to those that need it most. Special Treats are open to all applicants who meet their eligibility criteria, including those receiving curative treatment.

Original post 8th July 2021:

Last year the Willow Foundation sadly had to suspend their Special Days service for the first time in 21 years. The wellbeing of seriously ill young men and women has always been their primary concern and though they were able to adapt their service, the pandemic meant it simply wasn’t possible to deliver safe and secure Special Days.

Looking up

Thankfully more than a year later, things are looking much more positive. In February 2021 they took their first step towards reopening with the launch of their new Special Treats service.

A few months on, things are looking even brighter and they are excited to announce that they are now able to accept new Special Day applications once more. This is great news but as they are still working with a reduced budget, in 2021 they can only provide around half the usual number of Special Days.

Therefore as they reopen their full range of services, the following restrictions will apply:

  • Special Day applications will only be accepted for patients with a palliative prognosis or degenerative condition.

  • Special Treats will be available to all applicants who meet their regular eligibility criteria, including young adults aged 16-40 receiving end of life or palliative care.
