Together we can transform lives

Share:

Since Christmas, we have had some amazing fundraisers taking on a whole array of challenges from head shaves to overseas marathons. It has been great to see so many of you getting your fundraising hats on and supporting families and individuals affected by MPS, Fabry, and related conditions, we are so grateful for your support. Here are some of your inspiring stories.

Step into Spring 2024

Thank you to everyone who did 10k steps a day for March! You raised an incredible £3,700 to help fund family events throughout this year, and to help support the mental health and well being of people who are affected by MPS, Fabry, and related conditions.

Michael’s London Landmark’s challenge

A big MPS thank you to Michael Costa who ran the London Landmark’s half marathon in a fantastic 1 hour and 49 minutes in honour of his friend Harvey who has an MPS condition. He has raised a fabulous £2,370. Thank you so much Michael for your wonderful efforts and for supporting the MPS Society!

Celia’s marathon adventures

Well done to superwoman Celia Findlay who took on the Tokyo marathon in March in the amazing time of 4 hours and 41 seconds! Celia’s challenge did not end there, she took on the Boston Marathon on the 15th of April raising £1,210 for both challenges. Thank you, Celia, you truly are an MPS champion!

A huge thank you to:

  • Tracey Cotterell who raised an incredible £880 shaving her head in honour of her colleague’s son who was recently diagnosed with an MPS condition! She will be taking on more fundraising challenges in the summer, so watch this space!

  • Lloyds Pharmacy Clinical Homecare for raising an incredible £633 for their 'Rare Disease Day' fundraiser last month! Thank you so much to Leonie and Kelly for organising such a wonderful event and raising all important funds and awareness for the MPS Society.

  • Nicola Cloake and everyone at the Duke of York pub in Herefordshire who raised over £500 through a Sunday swear box throughout the whole of 2023 in honour of Nicola’s cousin’s son Sammy who has Sanfilippo. We are so grateful for your support and community spirit and want to thank everyone (and their potty-mouths!) for getting involved.

  • Aaron Kruger for taking to the ring and raising £90 in his UWCB boxing event. We are so grateful for your support.

  • Carolyn Hunt, Mum Shirley and Sister Christine who were back this Easter knitting chicks, bunnies and bags to raise money for her granddaughter Robin who has an MPS condition. Thank you for raising £87.50, your creations look amazing!

  • We were so grateful to receive £5,654.73 from the Cheshire Young Farmers. They raised this absolutely amazing amount at a charity luncheon very kindly hosted by the Oulton family. This event raised money for us and The Milk Maid Marchers, another worthy cause close to their hearts. Thank you, Cheshire Young Farmers. We have absolutely loved having your support over the past couple of years.
